180 YEARS OF REGATTA

The Port is steeped in history, as is the event: it is one of the oldest in the country and the earliest recorded Regatta was in 1822 with 2025 seeing the 180th Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta take place.

How it started…The earliest recorded regatta in Dartmouth was in 1822. 
There were three sailing races and one six-oared gig race. A military band was recorded as playing out at Dartmouth Castle and a ball took place with 120 in attendance.

The Dartmouth Regatta committee work tirelessly to host a Regatta that everyone can enjoy every year. The event is free to attend and we rely entirely on sponsors and generous public donations to keep Regatta going.
